Yes. The "Generic Drug First" Formulary came into most Coastal collective agreements in 2014 USW negotiations. It results in some savings as compared to the open formulary which exists in a few coastal operations. The "Generic First" Formulary does allow prescribed brand name drugs to be covered if the Physician does direct the Pharmacist in writing that the patient must receive the prescribed brand drug.
